This website is your source for information on trumpet events, faculty, admissions, and more for the University of Iowa Trumpet Studio. It is designed to be used by current and prospective students as well as others interested in the program. Through weekly master classes, faculty studio teaching, and presentations by well-known guest artists, students have the opportunity to develop their skills in a new world class performance facility and supportive learning environment.
Past guest trumpet artists include Robert Dorer, Minnesota Orchestra; John Rommel, Indiana University; Charles Lazarus, Minnesota Orchestra; Edward Cord, Indiana University; Bria Skonberg, jazz artist; Robert Baca, University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire; and John Daniel, Lawrence University.
The trumpet studio offers a wide-range of performing opportunities as well as further musical development. Activities and work that the studio offers include trumpet ensemble, trumpet seminar, trumpet studio recitals, University of Iowa bands & orchestras, and chamber ensembles. A major advantage the trumpet studio has is its full-time faculty at its disposal that includes Associate Professor of Trumpet, Dr. Amy Schendel and University of Iowa brass faculty. Supplementary instruction is also provided by two graduate students; one teaching assistant and one research assistant.
